“The images in this book are portraits of children I encountered during ten years of wandering around Söder in Stockholm. The photos are from the mid-1950s to the mid-1960s. I worked as an industrial photographer, and it was in the evenings, after work, that I took my walks. It was during those blue hours when everything felt a little offbeat, and the people I met had a certain quirkiness about them. It was a time when the air smelled of fried pork in the courtyards, and the kids were heading in to eat.”
