Gunnar Smolianskys fotografier från Slussen i Stockholm 1952
“Twenty-four images. Each of these twenty-four images shows a human being – or several. One, two, or a few – never a crowd. Sometimes the person is almost imperceptibly small, like the figure on the deck of the Djurgården ferry; sometimes merely a shadow. But she is there. In the geometries of Slussen, she is inscribed like notes on a musical staff – shaped not primarily by the photographer, but by her own actions. Homo faber: in these images, people are doing something. Even if it is only waiting.”
